2 St. James R.C. Church January 20, Dear Parishioners, What a beautiful Gospel for this weekend - the wedding feast at Cana! It is filled with symbolism and figures of speech which refer to the mystery of Christ's being married to the Church. It also exalts the dignity of the Sacrament of Matrimony which joins a man and woman with an indivisible bond. Wine in the Bible always refers to moments of great happiness, and in today's Gospel it has this characteristic. There was a marriage feast and the wine ran out. The mother of Jesus notices this, and she asks her son to do something, and He obeys. How often in our families does the wine of happiness run out, the wine of love, of hope. It is most necessary that our Blessed Mother enter our homes, that she sees what is happening, and presents us to the one who can transform the water of our daily lives, the water of routine, into a delicious wine, tasty and colorful. Let Jesus enter your home. Let the sweet wine of heaven fill your heart with the Words of the Master. Have a good week. Padre Celso Martins, CSsR. Meus queridos paroquianos Que Evangelho bonito neste final de semana: as Bodas de Caná. Cheio de simbolos e figuras de linguagem que remetem ao mistério das bodas de Cristo com a Igreja. Também exalta a dignidade do sacramento do matrimônio, que une o casal de forma indivisível pelo homem. O vinho na bíblia sempre foi remetido à momentos alegres, e também no Evangelho tem essa característica, era uma festa de casamento, e o vinho acabou. A mãe de Jesus percebe e pede ao seu Filho que faça alguma coisa, e Ele obedece. Quantas vezes em nossas famílias falta o vinho da alegria, do amor, da esperança.
