2 St. James R.C. Church April 23, Second Collection Catholic Home Missions Appeal, April 22 & 23, 2017 Dear Parishioners Easter has not ended. We still celebrate this special feast for fifty days. The Church rejoices in the event of our salvation. It touches all of us! Especially today when we are celebrating Mercy Sunday. It is a special grace to be able to experience God's forgiveness and his everlasting mercy. In spite of our faults God comes to help us, not because we merit this, but because his love is forever. It is a free gift that God grants us. While celebrating this Second Sunday of Easter, we are still feeling the joy of the Easter Vigil last Saturday. Twenty-one young people were baptized, and now they are a part of the life of the Church. They are new children of the Church of Christ, and brothers and sisters in faith and love. Everything was so beautiful, We had the participation of the various ministries in the Mass, and the strength of the Holy Spirit was with us. I would like to remember one of our dear parishioners who died a little while ago, Harry Runyon. He was organist in our church from 1987 until He was organist for the English Masses. He died on February 2 and we did not know about it. A shame, but we are certain that he is with God now for all the years of dedicated service and friendship in our community. May the mercy of God be constantly with you in your personal life, and in the life of the Church. Once again, have a blessed Easter season. Father Celso Martins, CSsR. Church April 23, CALENDÁRIO SEMANAL DA COMUNIDADE PORTUGUESA E BRASILEIRA Meus queridos paroquianos, A páscoa não acabou, ainda celebramos por 50 dias esta festa especial. A igreja se regozija neste evento de salvação que atingiu a nós todos! E hoje, em especial, estamos celebrando o domingo da Misericórdia. É uma graça de Deus podermos experimentar o perdão de Deus para conosco e sua misericórdia sem fim. Mesmo diante das nossas faltas Deus vem em nosso auxílio. Não porque merecemos, mas porque seu amor é sempre fiel. É graça gratuita que o senhor nos concede. Celebrando este segundo domingo da páscoa nos alegramos pela noite da Vigília Pascal no último sábado. Foram 21 jovens batizados e que agora farão parte da vida da Igreja. Novos filhos para a esposa de Cristo e irmãos nossos na fé e no amor. Tudo foi muito bonito, tivemos a participação dos diversos ministérios na missa e a força e o vigor do Espírito estavam conosco. Gostaria de lembrar um dos nossos queridos irmãos que faleceu algum tempo atrás, o Harry Runyon, ele foi organista nesta igreja desde 1987 até Era o organista das missas em Inglês. Ele faleceu dia 02 de fevereiro e não sabíamos! Uma pena, mas tenho certeza que Deus o tem no seu amor por tantos anos de carinho, serviço e amizade com nossa comunidade! Que a misericórdia de Deus seja constante na sua vida e na vida de nossa Igreja. Mais uma vez, uma feliz e santa Páscoa.
