It is a time to meditate on the story of Jesus and thus grow as Christians in order to build a better world. This weekend Jesus invites his disciples to follow him, and they perceive him as the Lamb of God, the Messiah. Simon gets a new name: Cefas, which means a rock, and therefore he is called Peter. Simon Peter's vocation reminds us of our vocation. We are living rocks in the construction of the Church of Jesus. He calls us by name and gives us a mission. January 15, 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day observed To hear the call of God we have to be connected to the Kingdom, to have a heart open to listening, even if we don't understand completely what he wants us to do. 3 St. James R.C. Church 14 de January Janeiro 14, de Queridos Paroquianos, O tempo do Natal terminou, agora vamos caminhar alguns domingos no tempo comum e depois vamos entrar na quaresma. Tempo Comum na Igreja é o tempo de crescermos nos Evangelhos de Jesus. Ouvir sua história e crescermos como cristãos para construirmos um mundo melhor. Neste final de semana Jesus convoca seus discípulos para segui-lo, e eles reconhecem nele o Cordeiro de Deus, o Messias. Simão ganha um novo nome: Cefas, que signifíca Pedra, por isso é chamado de Pedro. A vocação de Simão remete também à nossa vocação: somos pedras vivas na construção da Igreja de Jesus. Ele nos chama pelo nome e nos dá uma missão! Ouvir o chamado de Deus é algo que exige de nós sintonia com o Reino, coração disposto a escutar, mesmo sem entender direito o que Ele quer de nós, mas respondermos Sim e confiarmos que tudo ocorre para o bem daqueles que amam a Deus.
