2 St. James R.C. Church June 28, Our Lord and Master, the Messiah. Let him come to us and ask the question every day, since we always need to respond, about who is Jesus for us. My dear parishioners, Who is Jesus for you? This is the question that Our Lord makes to his disciples, and today to each one of us. The question is true and profound, because in the answer there appears our relationship and intimate life with Jesus. Many of us seek Jesus only when we think we need him. This is a sad reality. How many times, when we look for something, we go to Mass, make promises, pray more. Then, when we get what we want we stop participating, and little by little we make excuses and forget the promises we made. Others among us have Jesus as a friend, and he really is the truest friend in difficult times, he who walks with us, at our side, in our joys and sorrows. But Jesus is more than that, more than a friend, more than a refuge to solve our problems. Peter gives the final response of the Apostles: "You are the Christ, the Son of God." To recognize Jesus as the Son of God, the Savior and Messiah, is to place in the hands of God our entire life, is to know that there is no way to avoid the Redeemer's plan that he has made for us since the beginning of time. He is the Beginning, the Present, and the End of everything. Jesus is the Son of the Living God, and the entire universe is subject to Him, given by the Father to the Son. In Jesus, the Word of God incarnate, is all the Wisdom of God in relation to the world and to all that God does. Jesus is the expression of the mercy of God, and of the love of God. I want to remind you that this Saturday, June 27, is the feast of our Mother of Perpetual Help. As Redemptorists we have received the mission of making her known throughout the world. Here at Saint James we have the beautiful novena in her honor every Wednesday in English at 7:45 am, and in Portuguese at 7:30 in the evening. Come, participate with us. May our Mother of Perpetual Help intercede for you and shower upon you God's blessings. Have a good week. 3 St. James R.C. Church 28 June de Junho 28, 2015 de CALENDÁRIO SEMANAL DA COMUNIDADE PORTUGUESA E BRASILEIRA Meus queridos paroquianos, Quem é Jesus para você? Esta é a pergunta que o Senhor faz para os discípulos e hoje especialmente para cada um de nós. A pergunta é verdadeira e profunda, pois na resposta está contido nosso relacionamento e intimidade com Ele. Muitos de nós procuramos a Cristo somente quando precisamos, isto é uma triste realidade...quantas vezes que buscamos algo vamos à Missa, fazemos promessas e rezamos mais; e assim que conseguimos já deixamos de participar, aos poucos vamos arrumando desculpas e nos esquecendo dos compromissos que fizemos. Outros de nós tem Jesus como um amigo, e realmente Ele é o amigo mais certo das horas incertas, àquele que caminha conosco, ao nosso lado, em nossas histórias, alegrias e sofrimentos. Mas Jesus é mais do que isso, mais do que um amigo, mais do que um escape para resolver nossos problemas. Pedro dá a resposta final dos Apóstolos: Tu és o Cristo, o Filho de Deus! Reconhecer Jesus como o Filho de Deus, o Salvador e Messias é colocar nas mãos Dele toda nossa vida, é saber que não há como escapar do projeto redentor que o Senhor fez para nós desde o início dos tempos. Que Ele é o Inicio, o Meio e o Fim de tudo... que todos os planos vão em direção a Ele... Jesus é o Filho do Deus Vivo, sob os seus cuidados está todo o universo, entregue pelo Pai para o Filho. Em Jesus, Verbo de Deus encarnado, está toda sabedoria de Deus em relação ao mundo todo e tudo aquilo que Deus fez. Jesus é a expressão da misericórdia de Deus e do amor que tudo alcança, é o mistério do silêncio que fala mais do que mil palavras, é o olhar que perdoa e acolhe, é a mão que toca e levanta. Somos convidados hoje, eu e você, a colocarmos nossas dores e dificuldades nas mãos do Senhor e Mestre, do Messias. Deixemos Ele se aproximar de nós e nos fazer esta pergunta diariamente, pois sempre precisamos estar respondendo quem é Jesus para nós. Aproveito para lembrar neste último sábado dia 27 de Junho, a festa de Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro. Como Redentoristas recebemos a missão de torná-la conhecida no mundo todo. Aqui nesta Igreja temos uma bonita novena em honra à esta devoção, quarta-feira, em Inglês às 7:45 am e em Português às 7:30 pm. Venha participar conosco!
