Main Objectives Transform a former Federal road into an urban avenue, increasing the integration between districts in the city; Modernize the public transport system and broaden its access, specifically reaching the north, central, and south areas, following measures to assure environmental conservation. GREEN LINE PROJECT Specific Objectives Reduce the load on the north-south axes transport system; Increase the reach of the public transport system; Modernize the fleet of buses, using Bio Fuel; Reduce travel time; Increase the safety to pedestrians: public lighting, signaling; Improve road safety; Implement bike ways and sidewalks; Implement a boulevard along the axis, using native plants; Transform a former service zone into a mixed-use area increasing density and providing services; Recover three existing urban parks along the axis.
THE GREEN LINE PROJECT Total length: 18km 23 districts affected (287,000 people) (FUTURA) The project is divided into 2 phases PHASE 1: Extension 10km Beginning of construction works: Jan 2007 / Beginning of operation: Apr 2009 Investment: R$ 121 million (US$ 53 million) International funding (IDB): 60% / Counterpart City of Curitiba (PMC): 40%
