4 Government energy policy Reliable and modern sources of energy: to reduce poverty, to improve the health of population and to promote economic growth Through the following strategic actions: increase of power generation capacity construction of a reliable power grid electrification covering the whole country use of new and renewable energy sources

5 Purpose of the National Energy policy - To reduce the level of dependence on the importation of energy sources through the use of renewable energy sources - To promote the development of the governance of renewable energy and the National System of Renewable Energy (SNER) - To promote the development and the use of multipurpose hydroelectric facilities for energy production and the sustainable use of water - To regulate the exploitation and use of non renewable energy sources

6 Purpose of the National Energy Policy - To provide universal access to energy to all the people, especially those living in remote areas of Timor-Leste - To create appropriate regulation so that the nationals of Timor-Leste play a major role in the governance of energy sources - To develop balanced energy security standards to ensure the continuity of exploration, production and supply - To develop training and education programs for operators and consumers in order to encourage the sustainable use and consumption of energy sources

18 Customers in 2013 Our daily work is focused on satisfaction of our customers Conected to National power grid: 105,522 - Dili 39,407 (37.3%) - Districts & sub-districts 66,115 (62.7%) Solar: 13,000 Micro-hydro 240 Total: 118,762

19 Targets up to 2017 Target 1: The customers provided with reliable electricity from the national grid down to the sub-district level and in the targeted villages Target 2: 21,300 customers provided with reliable electricity from off grid (solar panels)

20 Targets up to 2017 (Contd) Target 3: Dependency on imported fossil fuel reduced by supplying 65 MW into the national grid from new and renewable sources Target 4: The customers down to the sub-district level are provided either with a prepayment facility or with regular bills for electricity use and have convenient methods for making payment
