1 II INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF ARCHITECTURE AND SUSTAINABILITY IN THE AMAZON Manaus/AM BRAZIL, September 14 to 16, 2016 CALL for PAPERS for the 2016 ARQAMAZÔNIA The Pan-American Federation of Architects Associations-FPAA and the Institute of Architects of Brazil IAB invites architects and urban planners, landscape architects, ecologists, researchers, academics and related professionals to participate in the 2016 ARQAMAZÔNIA-II International Congress of architecture and Sustainability in the Amazon, to be held in the city of Manaus-Brazil, from September 14 to 16, The scientific papers should be sent exclusively through the restricted area in the event website ( The papers must be framed in 2 modes: Communication: 1st phase - extended abstract submission 2nd phase - sending of full article (after the acceptance of the first phase). Panel: Only 1st phase - sending of extended abstract The proposals must relate to the following main themes: 1. City and Space Production in the Amazon; 2. Architectural Design and Urbanism to the Amazon; 3. Territorial and Urban Planning and Management; 4. Sustainable Technologies for the Amazon. There is no limit of abstracts by author, but more than an abstract based on the same research will not be accepted.

2 The authors limit for each paper: 1 author and up to 6 co-authors. The presenter will be responsible for the submission of the paper. The abstract must be submitted by April 15, 2016 at 6:00 pm (GTM), for the first time in the form of Extended Abstract, according to the rules specified below, embedding itself in the main themes of the Congress. TECHNICAL STANDARDS FOR SENDING EXTENDED ABSTRACTS The Extended Abstracts must be written in Portuguese, Spanish or English and have at least 600 and a maximum of 800 words, Arial Narrow 11, normal, with line spacing of 1.5. The margins should be of 3.0 cm, without indentation at the beginning of the paragraph, which should be justified. Italics should be used for foreign terms. Title of the Paper: Arial Narrow 13, normal, all in capital letters and in bold, centered. Name (s) of author (s): Arial Narrow 11, normal, bold, centered. Institution to which is (are) attached: Arial Narrow 9, normal, centered. Address and contacts: Arial Narrow 9, normal, centered. Key words: minimum of 2 and maximum of 5. Abstracts should be submitted exclusively via the restricted area in the event website ( in pdf format, indicating the thematic axes and the references used. Follow the guidelines below to send the paper: 1. First, register on the site in the menu "registration", fill in the Registration form; 2. As a way of payment, choose "Deposit". The deadline for the payment of registration of Conference participants with selected paper will be June 30, After finishing the enrollment process, you will be sent an automatically to the address registered in the registration form, stating the password for access to the restricted area. If you do not receive the , check if it is in "junk mail"; 4. Access the restricted area by choosing "Participants in Congress" informing the SSN and the password sent; 5. In the restricted area, access the menu "scientific papers". Complete all the required fields on the paper and click on "Send";

3 6. In the next window attach the file and click on "Send". Wait the end of the upload. Your paper was submitted. 7. After the close of the deadline for abstract submission, the site will not allow the editing or resending of the file anymore. After the submission of the paper, the author will receive confirmation via contact informed on enrollment. This confirmation message is to guarantee that the paper was submitted correctly. If you do not receive the with the confirmation of the submission, the author should contact the Executive Secretariat of the event before the submission deadline. After the results of the evaluation with the selected papers, the registration payment can be done by June 30, The way of payment can be changed to other modalities in the restricted area of the site. In attachment I of this paper call, a template of Extended Abstract. The Paper Abstract should have the following structure: Theme (pointing to the main theme), objectives, methodology and used information, some of the findings, conclusions and reflections on the results, proposals for discussion, main references (maximum of 10). The Scientific Committee of the Congress shall issue by April its opinion and categorize the Extended Abstracts in the following categories: 1. Approved Abstract. 2. Not Approved Abstract The status of acceptance of the paper will be available in the restricted area of the author who submitted the paper. The Extended Abstract (communication) classified as approved will pass to the next stage, where the Full Article will be developed. INFORMATION FOR THE PANEL Dimensions: 120 cm (height) x 90 cm (width).

4 Material: made of canvas and cord to be hung at the site of the exhibit. After selected, the Executive Secretariat will forward the event formatting panel for the arrangements for the preparation, printing and shipping.

5 TECHNICAL STANDARDS FOR THE FULL ARTICLES. The full papers should be sent exclusively via the restricted area on the site of the event ( by May 31, 2016 at 6:00 pm (GMT). There will be no corrections or reformulations of received texts. Follow the guidelines below: 1. Access to the restricted area by choosing "Participants in Congress" informing the SSN and password sent; 2. In the restricted area, access the menu "scientific papers". Identify the Registered Paper and click on Send Article ; 3. In the following window attach the file with the paper and click on "Send". Wait the end of the upload. Your paper was submitted. 4. After the close of the deadline for submission of article, the site will not allow more editing and resending. After the submission of the paper, the author will receive confirmation by of contact informed on enrollment. This confirmation message is to guarantee that the paper was submitted correctly. If you do not receive the with the confirmation of submission, the author should contact the Executive Secretariat of the event before the submission deadline. The full text will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee which shall deliver its opinion by June 07, 2016 and will sort in the following categories: 1. Full article approved; 2. Full article does not pass. The approved complete articles will be sent to the Coordinator of the Scientific Committee who will make dealings directly with the author (s) by . The not approved complete articles will be returned to the authors with the guidance of the Scientific Committee for appropriateness, correctness and their forwarding to a new Committee analysis, these should be sent exclusively via the restricted area in the event website (

6 The maximum time of the oral presentation will be properly informed on the website of the Congress ( The publication and/or presentation of the paper will only be effective with the confirmation of registration for the Congress and the proof of payment of the registration fee, by June 30, Payments made by credit card have automatic immediate release, since the payment is on-line. Payments made by check, deposit or wire transfer depend on clearance and bank information. In attachment II of this paper call, find a full article template.

O conteúdo desta folha de rosto - título do trabalho, nomes dos autores e das instituições, informações de contato, resumo, palavras-chave, abstract e keywords - deverá preferencialmente ocupar uma só página. Palavras-chave Mínimo 2 e máximo 5, em Arial Narrow tamanho 10 Abstract O abstract deverá ser redigido em inglês, seguindo as mesmas orientações indicadas para o resumo, em Arial Narrow tamanho 10, em itálico Keywords Tradução das palavras-chave, em Arial Narrow tamanho 10, em itálico

10 Corpo do Texto Todo o texto do trabalho deverá ser escrito em Arial Narrow tamanho 11, com espaçamento entre linhas de 1.5, sem recuo no início do parágrafo, que deverá ser justificado. Deverá ser usado itálico para termos estrangeiros. Todo o trabalho deverá estar formatado em página A4, com margens superior e inferior de 2 cm, e margens laterais de 3 cm. Os trabalhos deverão ter no máximo 5 mil palavras e no máximo 20 páginas, incluindo folha de rosto, referências bibliográficas, notas de rodapé, ilustrações. Deverá haver uma linha em branco entre cada parágrafo ou parte do texto. É facultado aos autores estruturarem o texto de acordo com as características de seu trabalho, embora se sugira a estrutura Introdução, Desenvolvimento, Conclusões. O arquivo contendo o trabalho deverá estar no formato.pdf, possuir no máximo 5 MB e ser enviado exclusivamente através do menu área restrita no site do evento até o dia 31 de maio de 2016, até às 18h (horário de Brasilia) Os números de página deverão estar centralizados, no rodapé 1. As citações diretas, no texto, deverão seguir as indicações da NBR 10520, de Quando a citação tiver até três linhas, deve comparecer ao longo do texto, entre aspas (se houver citação dentro da citação, usar aspas simples). Quando a citação tiver mais de três linhas, deve estar em parágrafo separado: Citações com mais de três linhas devem ficar em parágrafos independentes, escritos com fonte Arial Narrow tamanho 10, sem aspas, a 4 cm da margem esquerda. Se for feito o destaque, em negrito, de trechos da citação, a expressão (grifo nosso) deve aparecer após a chamada da citação. Se o destaque for original da obra citada, indicar (grifo do autor).
