5 Agradecimento - ThankS Saint Anthony Parish Saudações, O fim-de-semana da Festa foi um imenso sucesso, graças a Deus! Peço que se juntem a mim a agradecer a Deus por nos ter abençoado com o tempo que tivemos. A nossa fé católica e as nossas tradições Portuguesas são maravilhosas, especialmente quando são unidas. A procissão, por-exemplo é simples, mas é um profundo ato de fé, ao contrário a uma mostra da nossa fé é sempre representada antes, depois e entre tudo neste mundo secular. Foi uma alegria ver a Igreja cheia nas celebrações litúrgicas. De sexta-feira até domingo estava presente muita gente tomando parte das festividades. Sábado e domingo foram extraordinárias com o número de pessoas presente. Muito obrigado a todos que participaram duma maneira ou outra no fim de semana, desde a procissão, à liturgia ou mesmo só a disfrutar da festa. Se não fosse pelo esforço, trabalho incansável e grande dedicação de muitos voluntários esta festa não seria possível. Obrigado a Philip Chaves que dirigi as festividades e que devemos um grando agradecimento, também a Eduardo e Lucilia Sousa, continuando no seu compromisso de ajudar a paróquia, e a restante comissão de festas, aos senhores que vieram com toda disponibilidade de fixar os postos, o andor, etc., à senhora Cinira, e todos os ajudantes na cozinha que trabalharam incansavelmente, aos homens nos grelhadores e no bar; os contribuintes de todos os ingredientes para as malassadas, ao Al e Hilda Domingos, Sra. Paz e Bençãos, Padre Walter 5 Greetings, This past weekend was a tremendous success, thanks be to God! Even the weather cooperated! Please join me in Thanksgiving to the Lord for granting us the weather we had. The weekend was a great success because of your presence. Our Catholic as well as our Portuguese traditions are wonderful, especially when they are combined. A procession, for example, is a simple, but profound act of faith to show our faith to and in the midst of such a secular world. The entire feast weekend seems to have been a spectacular success. It was such an utter joy to see the church filled for the liturgical celebrations. Each time I went into the hall it seemed to have been packed with people. I saw food moving out of the kitchen fast-paced and non-stop on Saturday night and on Sunday evening. Thank you sincerely to every one of you who participated in any way during this weekend. I would be terribly remiss in not mentioning those who really make these festivities a success. If it were not for the hard work, dedication and devotion of all the many volunteers the feast would not be possible. Thank you again to Philip Chaves who coordinated the feast. We also thank Eddy & Lucy Sousa continuing to fulfill their promise of helping, and to the Feast Committee. Thanks also to the men who put up the posts and the andor; Sra. Cinira, and the kitchen staff who worked tirelessly; the men on the grills and the bar; Al & Hilda Domingos and the many of you who sold every single raffle booklet, Tony Pereira and his family for the Bazaar and those who contributed gifts; Luis Travassos, Dorothy, Philip & Jacob Chaves and those who assisted in all the liturgies and all who helped in any and many ways. By Dr. Scott Hahn The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Cycle C) At the dawn of salvation history, God revealed our future in figures. That's what's going on in today's First Reading: A king and high priest comes from Jerusalem (see Psalm 76:3), offering bread and wine to celebrate the victory of God's beloved servant, Abram, over his foes. By his offering, Melchizedek bestows God's blessings on Abram. He is showing us, too, how one day we will receive God's blessings and in turn "bless God" - how we will give thanks to Him for delivering us from our enemies, sin and death. As Paul recalls in today's Epistle, Jesus transformed the sign of bread and wine, making it a sign of His body and blood, through which God bestows upon us the blessings of His "new covenant." Jesus is "the priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek," that God, in today's Psalm, swears will rule from Zion, the new Jerusalem (see Hebrews 6:20-7:3). By the miracle of loaves and fishes, Jesus in today's Gospel, again prefigures the blessings of the Eucharist. Notice that He takes the bread, blesses it, breaks it, and gives it to the Twelve. You find the precise order and words in the Last Supper (see Luke 22:19) and in His celebration of the Eucharist on the first Easter night (see Luke 24:30). The Eucharist fulfills the offering of Melchizedek. It is the daily miracle of the heavenly high priesthood of Jesus. It is a priesthood He conferred upon the Apostles in ordering them to feed the crowd, in filling exactly twelve baskets with leftover bread - in commanding them on the night He was handed over: "Do this in remembrance of Me." Through His priests He still feeds us in "the deserted place" of our earthly exile. And by this sign He pledges to us a glory yet to come. For as often as we share in His body and blood. we proclaim His victory over death, until He comes again to make His victory our own. 8

The assessment is an amount determined by our previous donations averaged in with our collections. When a parish achieves this amount it receives a rebate. If it doesn t, it must make up the assessed amount. Because we attained our assessment the parish did receive a rebate last year. Sincere thanks to all who participate in the appeal. From the 2015 Catholic Appeal we have received to date a total of $ 5,947 in rebates.
