Government energy policy Reliable and modern sources of energy: to reduce poverty, to improve the health of population and to promote economic growth Through the following strategic actions: increase of power generation capacity construction of a reliable power grid electrification covering the whole country use of new and renewable energy sources
Purpose of the National Energy policy - To reduce the level of dependence on the importation of energy sources through the use of renewable energy sources - To promote the development of the governance of renewable energy and the National System of Renewable Energy (SNER) - To promote the development and the use of multipurpose hydroelectric facilities for energy production and the sustainable use of water - To regulate the exploitation and use of non renewable energy sources
Purpose of the National Energy Policy - To provide universal access to energy to all the people, especially those living in remote areas of Timor-Leste - To create appropriate regulation so that the nationals of Timor-Leste play a major role in the governance of energy sources - To develop balanced energy security standards to ensure the continuity of exploration, production and supply - To develop training and education programs for operators and consumers in order to encourage the sustainable use and consumption of energy sources
