Users. Coverage. It is crucial to evaluate considering the issue of coverage of the digital channel comparison with the coverage of the analog channel, including addressing the need, dimensioning and installation of gap fillers. The necessity of planning for coverage standardization. Speaker: Valderez Donzelli SET/ ADTHEC The pilot project for the switch off: Manufacturers must plan for the growing demand for equipments. The problems concerning the transmitting stations. Dissemination Gap Fillers to improve Digital TV signal coverage for Great Goiania city. Speaker: Danilo Carlos de Oliveira Rosa - Televisão Anhanguera S/A (Goiânia) The Brazilian terrestrial digital Television system ISDB-Tb was implemented after the adaptation of some features of the Japanese standard, the ISDB-T, Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial. Nonetheless, it kept an important characteristic for digital signal transmission that is the Single Frequency Network, SFN. The SFN uses the modulation Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, OFDM. Considering the Single Frequency Network, SFN, this study is based on a particular SFN network of gap filler stations in the covered area of some existing stations of a city or region. Simulations based on study cases show that the gap filler stations in big urban areas are useful and necessary tools for coverage improvement for Digital TV in certain places where there may be shadow points because of buildings, vegetation or geographic relief. It is expected that simulations and detailed analysis are performed prior to their implementation in order to ensure that the right actions are taken to mitigate any interference risks in already covered areas and that the gap filler stations will appropriately cover the gaps. It is also important to have field measurements to check the level and the delay differences between the interfering signals and to check the quality of the received signal during implementation. Beyond the technical boundaries Speaker: Frederico Rehme SET/ RPC TV/ UP RPC TV experience in signal inland deployment and digital TV dissemination, the engineering aspects, marketing and business. A multiidisciplinary study (Engineering, Marketing, Management, Law, Economics, Social Sciences) from the Positivo University to guide the analog TV switch off process. The panel will bring an intense debate on the subject of technology trends, the evolution of the industry and the connected audience. The sessions should revolve around the following issues: => What are the current trends in the television industry taking into account the widespread dissemination of TVs connected to the Internet? What changes will happen in content discovery, navigation and content delivery? => What innovations are already out there that could be best meet these trends? =>What are the new thoughts on how technological innovations can positively impact the integration between TV and Internet? => How to integrate the increasing availability of online / on-demand content and the increasing expansion of multiple screens to the TV room? => How to break up these trends in digestible chunks that can be solved with the gradual implementation of technology innovations? => What consumers demand and what are they ready to accept? Advancement of Hybridcast New services and technologies Speaker: Masaru TAKECHI - NHK Hybridcast is the Integrated Broadcast-Broadband (IBB) system using HTML5. Hybridcast specification V1.0, standardized in March, 2013 by IPTV Forum Japan, defines basic system architecture and functions focusing on an application type called 'broadcast-oriented managed application'. This application type enables very flexible broadcast centric services. Since the launch of the Hybridcast service in September, 2013, the services are continuously enhanced. In addition to the effort for enhancement of the Hybridcast services, further technological development of Hybridcast is being performed. V2.0 specification, published in June, 2014, adds significant features to Hybridcast. V2.0 defines many additional behavioral models, application models, and APIs. In this presentation, service and technological development of Hybridcast is discussed. The enhanced actual services and some major technical features added in V2.0 specification will be addressed. In addition, specification of Hybridcast for UHDTV on MMT (MPEG Media Transport) which has been standardized in July will also be addressed. 3

Interactivity 2.0 Converging Technologies for TV Broadcast & Broadband. Speaker: David Britto - TOTVS / TQTVD This presentation will discuss new technologies that promote Broadcast and Broadband convergence, cases of innovations in which linear and non linear content may be used to help develop new business models for broadcasters. Social TV - Television has moved to social networks. Speaker: Gil Giardelli - Gaia Creative The 21st Century will be the one in which people will be free as individuals and deliberately together. The path is the Social TV. Many call it: Transmedia, Crossmedia, Multimedia, Storytelling but it does not matter. The important thing is that we have become tellers of global stories and that the digital era has changed the way to make TV, news and entertainment. Now, we are photographers, investigators and consultants of a new world. This session will show many cases that are changing TV, Cinema, Entertainment and Journalism. Enjoy the ride!! Globosat Play Service (Muu) Speaker: Cassiano Fróes - GLOBOSAT The experience of watching videos over IP has become simpler and nicer because the connected devices are more popular and connectivity improvements. Surely, TV receivers are not the only devices to watch TV ; the experience to consume audiovisual content in other screens (or on complementary screens) is already a reality. Globosat is a groundbreaker in launching products like TV-Everywhere and Video On Demand in Brazil. Muu was the first TVE product launched in Brazil in August, 2011. Since then, we broadened the scope of available products for many platforms and through partnerships with the main TV networks of the country. We will present the challenges and problems that have arose during the process and to point out the opportunities for the future. RADIO Mod.: Marco Tulio SET/ Sistema Globo de Radio Speaker: Carlos Ronconi TV Globo Speaker: Luiz Fausto SET/ TV Globo Infrastructure: Civil rights framework for the Internet in Brazil. Network Neutrality Mod.: Oripede Cilento SET/ NIC.br August 27, 2014 - Wednesday 11:30AM/01:30PM Room 12 Languages: Portuguese/ English Civil rights framework for the Internet in Brazil. Network Neutrality and challenges to prevent discrimination multimedia services on the Internet. One of the most relevant points of the Civil Framework of the Internet in Brazil, signed into Law 12,965 is Article 9, which deals with network neutrality. The central concept of neutrality is to isonomic treatment of data traffic from the suppliers of Internet traffic (ISP). Broadband providers, regulators want to authorize the practice of charging additional fees to prioritize certain Internet services (audio and video, for example) at the expense of other traffic. Thus, the neutrality of the user-side network would be compromised by manipulation and arbitrary monetizing your traffic on broadband connection. The Civil Marco seeks to prevent such discriminatory and arbitrary practices whose costs, monetary and quality of service, always end up burdening the end user. In this session we intend to clarify the concepts of net neutrality, the challenges to build relevant legislation and regulation, which would be the "technical exceptions" provided by law and with the position of the main factors involved. Why should we keep Network Neutrality? Speaker: EDUARDO FUMES PARAJO The exceptions to the regulation of net neutrality. In the big events, where the audience participation has become a big phenomenon that goes beyond the TV screen or the sound from a radio station, explained by the social networks or apps, the offline or online heated debates amongst friends and family. The transformation of an event into a means to disseminate stories, opinions and commitment with what is being broadcasted. Live Technology Speaker: Shay David - Kaltura In todays world, every company is a media company. in the last few years Kaltura had the opportunity and pleasure to be able to power some of the worlds largest events inside and outside the firewall. whether for sporting, news, entertainment or for corporate communication, distance learning, or even tele-medicine, video offers new modes for the audience to engage, learn, and participate.

August 27, 2014 - Wednesday 03:00PM/05:00PM Room 13 Languages: Portuguese/ English Exhibition & Consumption: APPS and second screen: building bridges linking TV and digital platforms. Mod.: Salustiano Fagundes SET/ HXD More and more consumers watch television connected to one or more screens simultaneously. According to research released by Google Brazil in 2013, the phenomenon of second screen already reached and established people habits and customs: about 30 million Brazilians use three screens at the same time, daily. This new behavior of Brazilians brings challenges and opportunities for broadcasters who need to create coherent strategies to engage viewers. For the brands arises the possibility to further your ads, allowing measurement of real-time interactions. Ecosystems behind the second screen Speaker: Tom Jones Moreira SET / Tvdigitalbr/Tecsys do Brasil Tablets are becoming commodities in the homes everywhere in the world and this fact has attracted the attention of broadcasters and content providers. This is happening because of the 24-hours connected devices that provide real time quantitative and qualitative data about the behavior of the viewers. The tablets can enlarge the user s experience beyond the TV program in itself, strengthening the commitment with the viewer and, above all, increasing the value of channel/ operator and clients chain, thus, making a difference when compared with the competition. Riding on these waves are the new apps, "Sync-to-TV" apps are reaching the market. TV synchronization is an app developed for the second screen (in this case tablet or ipad) that can recognize a program transmitted through a TV receiver and delivers interactive modules to the second screen with the corresponding programming.
