4 ODEMIRA INTEGRA It is a project born from the need to improve and increase support measures, reception and integration of immigrants. 47% of immigrants registered in the district of Beja live in Odemira. Of these, 16.6% are from third countries (outside the European Union). 12% of the resident population in Odemira are foreigners GENERAL AIMS Building a Municipal Plan for the Integration of Immigrants based on an active participation of the whole community. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF IMMIGRANT COMMISSION Participate in the design, approve, monitor and evaluate the Plan Taking the most of migration for local development in the region Discuss topics related to the theme of migration in place, in terms of integration Ensure the participation of immigrants in local policies Promote coordination between local partners, including central and local government, institutions and companies Potentiate facilitate initiatives of proper implementation of the Plan, through the mobilization of natural and legal persons who are crucial to its achievement Contribute to a better understanding of migration issues at the local level Ensure a better match between needs and migration offer Contribute to the dissemination of the Plan and its implementation at the local level, whether in the public eye, or of professionals from different public and private organizations, that directly or indirectly develop skills in favor of migration.
