Welcome to the APPI Quarteira Seminar, welcome to the Escola Secundária Drª Laura Ayres, for an exciting professional development meeting of teachers of English in the Algarve. During a full Saturday - March 7 - delegates will have an opportunity to meet what is at stake in the central topic I m going to try that one!, by participating in a comprehensive offer of sessions six - which will provide them with fresh ideas and tips for teaching the language at all levels, as well as guidance and suggestions for professional development in a range of critical issues. In fact, a diversity of practical issues pertaining to English teaching and learning, together with a choice of essential aspects of ELT, will be covered by experienced professionals who will inspire lesson planning, ways of doing and assessment. Every APPI Seminar is organized with hard work and great gusto and aimed at making a difference in delegates classroom work and their students performance. This particular Seminar has been made possible thanks to the motivated support of the board of the host school APPI is in debt to. A warm Thank-You goes to our local member and teacher Maria João Soares who has liaised with her school board and APPI for making it happen. APPI is also most thankful to the team of qualified speakers who have answered APPI s call for the Seminário. Thanks very much to all of those for the significant help and goodwill granted. SPEAKERS BIODATA Adam Evans Ângela Pereira Celeste Simões Lucy Bravo Rita Brito Romão Sónia Ferreirinha Adam Evans has worked in the ELT world since 1984, first as an English teacher for International House and then as a representative for Cambridge University Press in Bilbao. He is a qualified teacher holding the CTEFLA and has experience in teaching all age groups. He also has an MBA and since 2001 he has been involved in teacher training in Spain & Portugal as Business Development Manager for Cambridge University Press. Com formação na área do Comércio Internacional, encontra-se a colaborar com Cambridge English Language Assessment há cerca de 3 anos, tendo como papel principal o desenvolvimento do mercado Português no âmbito da Certificação da língua inglesa e apoio à rede de Centros de Exame oficiais e respetivos Centros de Preparação para os exames de Cambridge. Celeste Simões has a degree in English and German (FLUC) and a PhD in Translation Studies (FLUC). She is an EFL materials writer and teacher trainer with more than 20 years' teaching experience. She has written several articles on methodology for The APPI Journal and Newsletter and for the BC e-zine In English Digital. Managing Director of Knightsbridge Examination & Training Centre, Portugal s First Cambridge English Platinum Centre. She has an MSc in ELT Management, among others. Lucy has extensive experience with exam preparation classes, is a Cambridge Teacher Trainer and has been speaking examiner for over 17 years. Lucy is an accredited teacher trainer in Portugal and has also worked with the DGE & APPI, and works with numerous private and state schools as a consultant assisting the schools implementing & running their own Cambridge examination preparation courses programme. Lucy is also the Consultant Tutor on global pilot training programme for teachers by Cambridge English (CETF).
