3 Museu de Alberto Sampaio PRESENTATION The Alberto Sampaio Museum is located in the heart of the city s historic centre, on the site where, in the 10th century, the Countess Mumadona ordered the building of a monastery. Initially a mixed monastery for men and women, it was transformed into a Collegiate Church in the early 12th century, when it was subjected to renovation work. This is an art museum, with fine collections of sacred art, and is harmoniously integrated with the surrounding architecture.
