Advantages of LEP(1+2) for QCD Collider e + e => No partons in initial state! to mess up with the fragmentation in the final state! Energy well determined (and range 89 209 GeV!) Studies with c.m.energy performed in the same experiments! Observables Cleaner and Easier to measure. Count and measure objects easily reconstructed It can be made with data samples of modest size. Statistical Errors on means scale with Smaller hadronization corrections at higher energies Four Experiments (with very different detectors) And there are very large datasets! The phases of the process e + e hadrons Time 5 1 Electroweak Process Well determined, calculable 2 Perturbative QCD DATA Acquired at the end of phase 5! To infer properties in previous phases, needs to be corrected via MC Simulation.
