Veja a tabela abaixo: Passado Presente Futuro Singular There was There is* There will be Plural There were There are There will be ** * usa-se a forma contraída: there s **repare que, ao conjugar no futuro, não há mudança do singular para o plural Nas orações negativas, basta acrescentar um not a frente do verbo to be (ou do auxiliar will, no caso do futuro), podendo ser na forma contraída, conforme a tabela abaixo: Singular Plural Passado Presente Futuro There was not / There wasn t There were not / There weren t É mais fácil entender através de exemplos: There is not / There isn t / There s not there are not / There aren t There is a cat on the roof. (Há um gato no telhado.) There s a hole in my soul. (Há um buraco em minha alma.) There s water on the floor. (Há água no chão.) There s not money in my bag. (Não há dinheiro em minha bolsa.) They say next week there will be lots of parties. Ou, se preferir, a forma contraída do verbo to be com o not, como você faria normalmente (com ou sem o there): there is not vira there isn t, there are not pode ser there aren t, there was not passa para there wasn t, there were not é there weren t e, por fim, there will not be pode ser contraído como there won t be
There are not/ There aren t enough hours in the day. (Não há horas suficientes no dia.) There were not/ there weren t Astrology books at the library. (Não havia livros de astrologia na biblioteca.) Next month there will not/won t be any holiday. No presente e no passado, o verbo to be é o próprio auxiliar. No futuro, o auxiliar é will. Por causa desse costume nosso, muita gente acaba usando o verbo have (que significa ter) no lugar de there is e there are. Isso significa que muitos estudantes acabam dizendo coisas assim em inglês: #Have a girl in the room.# #Have not a book on the table.# #Have 30 people in the room.# #Have not 100 books in the box.# Ao invés de usar there is e there are, que são as formas corretas, muitos acabam usando o have por causa da influência do português na hora de falar ou escrever em inglês. Portanto, cuidado com isso! Lembre-se: quando o tem tiver o sentido de há você deverá usar as combinações there is e there are. Sendo que there is é usado para falar de uma coisa ou pessoa apenas (singular) e there are, para várias coisas ou pessoas (plural). There would be
Primeiramente, se quisermos dizer haveria, usamos a combinação there would be. Vejam alguns exemplos: There would be a pool party in case the weather was good this weekend. I guess there would be more people in the audience if the prices were lower. She told me there would be no time to make another cake for the wedding. 1. Passem as sentenças a seguir para a forma negativa. A. There is a nice car in the garage. B.
