PRAYER AND REFLECTION May 11, 2014 Fourth Sunday of Easter Read: John 10:1-10 Today is Good Shepherd Sunday, and we will hear in the Gospel that sheep recognize the true shepherd s voice. And this weekend in North America we are also celebrating Mother s Day. Good mothers are like good shepherds, desiring the safety of their children, praying that they listen to true voices and follow the true path. Let us pray today for every mother s child, for the opportunity and the desire to grow into the child of God each is meant to be. On this Good Shepherd Sunday, let us pray for our world, so in need of guidance; for our communities and families, so in need of a loving presence; for ourselves, so in need of God s wisdom and grace. Let us pray for the church: for the grace to reveal the face of Jesus, to speak the word of Jesus, to do the will of Jesus we pray,, For peace: for a world that welcomes the life of every mother s child and offers to each person opportunities for education, meaningful work, fulfillment and hope for the future we pray, For our mothers: for grandmothers and stepmothers and godmothers; for the women who have taught us, nurtured us and believed in us we pray, For those for whom Mother s Day is a painful day: for women longing for motherhood; for mothers mourning the loss of their child and children mourning the loss of their mothers; for those who never knew their mothers or whose mothers could not love them for the comfort of our loving, nurturing, caring God we pray, We remember those who have died and for the shepherd s comfort for those overwhelmed by grief we pray, Prayer Good and loving God, hear the prayers of your people this day. Protect us, guide us and hear us as we pray in the name of Jesus, our shepherd and risen Lord, forever and ever. Amen. Celebration 2014

LEITURAS DA SEMANA: Pe.
