Introduction The Power Line Adaptor will transform your home electrical wiring into a ubiquitous networking infrastructure providing Ethernet access point in various locations without the need of an additional cable. Simply plug the pair of Power Line Adaptors to 2 distant ordinary AC power outlets to extend your broadband connection or existing Ethernet (LAN) network. The BPL120/121 Power Line Adaptor supports up to 200 Mbps data rate over the existing home electrical network, providing fast Internet access and support to full multimedia applications including digital data, voice, and audio/video streaming. 1. Product Description 1.1. Packaging content - 2 x Power Line Adapters - 2 x RJ45 Ethernet cables - 1 x CD-ROM 1.2. Safety Cautions This Power Line Adapter is used to connect to an AC power outlet. Basic Installation Follow the steps below to properly connect the Power Line Adaptor to your computer: 1. Power off the PC or Notebook. 2. Connect the provided Ethernet (RJ-45) cable to the Ethernet Power Line Adaptor s Ethernet port. 3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet (RJ-45) cable to the computer s LAN port. 4. Plug the Ethernet Power Line Adaptor into a wall socket next to the computer. 5. Turn on the computer. 6. Check and confirm that the Power and Ethernet LEDs on the Ethernet Power Line Adaptor are ON. Follow the steps below to connect the other one Ethernet Power Line Adaptor

8 8 to your ADSL broadband connection: 1. Power off the PC or Notebook. 2. Connect the provided Ethernet (RJ-45) cable to the Ethernet Power Line Adaptor s Ethernet port. 3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet (RJ-45) cable to an available Ethernet port of the ADSL broadband Router. 4. Plug the Ethernet Power Line Adaptor into a wall socket next to the computer. 5. Turn on your computer. 6. Check and confirm that the Power, Ethernet and Data LEDs on the Power Line Adaptor are ON. Connect to the Internet to check your network connection. 3. Setting Up a Secured Network The HomePlug AV standard uses 128-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) to safely transmit data between power line adapters. To communicate with each other, power line adapters need to use the same Network Membership Key (NMK). The SECURITY button allows you to set up a secure connection with other HomePlug AV compliant Power line devices which also support the NMK feature. This section describes how to add new devices or remove old devices from a HomePlug AV logical network (AVLN) by using the SECURITY pushbutton Forming a HomePlug AV Logical Network When two adapters with different NMK values are connected to the same power line and the user wants them to form a logical network. 1. Press the SECURITY button on the first adapter for less than 3 seconds. 2. Press the SECURITY button on the second adapter for less than 3 seconds within the same minute. 3. Wait for the connection to complete. The Power LED on both adapters blinks evenly at 1-second intervals until the operation succeeds or fails. If the connection succeeds, it illuminates steadily. If an error occurs, the Power LED on the second adapter blinks unevenly until the button on the first adapter is pressed again or the second adapter is reset by holding the button down for more than 10 seconds.

9 ENGLISH Joining a Network In this scenario a network exists and the user wants to add a new adapter to that network. Any device on the existing network can be used to accept the new device. Follow the same procedure as above, the first adapter used being the new adapter to be added to the network Leaving a Network A network exists and the user wants to remove one adapter from that network. For example, the user wants to remove the adapter to have it join another logical network. 1. Press the button on the adapter to be removed for at least 10 seconds. The adapter resets and restarts with a random NMK. 2. Wait for the reset to complete. The Power LED on the adapter to be removed momentarily extinguishes during reset, blinks during restart, then illuminates steadily. No error occurs. The user can remove the adapter or add it to another logical network on the same medium when it is completed. 4. Installing the PowerPacket Utility The PowerPacket utility program detects 200 Mbps PLC-Ethernet bridge devices in the power line network, measures data rate performance, ensures security of the power line network, and performs diagnostics. To install the software on your computer: - Insert the CDROM in your computer CD drive. - In the introduction screen, click on the button to launch the software installation. - Follow the installation steps to install the software A user guide is provided separately to assist you when using the PowerPacket Utility software.

Eteignez l ordinateur. 2. Connectez le cble rseau fourni sur le port rseau de l adaptateur CPL. 3. Connectez l autre bout du cble rseau au port rseau de l ordinateur. 4. Branchez l adaptateur CPL sur la prise de courant proche de l ordinateur. 5. Allumez l ordinateur. 6. Vrifiez que les diodes Power et Ethernet de l adaptateur CPL s allument correctement.

16 16 Suivez les tapes suivantes pour connecter le deuxime adaptateur CPL votre routeur rseau ADSL: 1. Eteignez l ordinateur. 2. Connectez le cble rseau fourni sur le port rseau de l adaptateur CPL. 3. Connectez l autre bout du cble rseau un port rseau du routeur rseau ADSL. 4. Branchez l adaptateur CPL sur la prise de courant proche du routeur. 5. Allumez l ordinateur. 6. Vrifiez que les diodes Power, Ethernet et Data de l adaptateur CPL s allument correctement. Faites un essai de connexion Internet pour vrifier l tat de la connexion rseau. 3. Configurer un rseau L'Adaptateur de Rseau AV standard utilise l'aes 128 bits (norme de cryptage Advanced Encryption Standard) pour transmettre des donnes scurises entre adaptateurs CPL. Pour communiquer les uns avec les autres, les adaptateurs doivent tous utiliser la mme cl d'appartenance au rseau (Network Membership Key, ou NMK). Le bouton de couplage SECURITY vous permettra d'tablir une connexion scurise avec d'autres appareils CPL compatibles HomePlug AV avec fonction de couplage. Cette section dcrit comment ajouter un nouvel appareil ou enlever un ancien appareil sur le rseau logique HomePlug AV (AVLN) en utilisant le bouton de couplage SECURITY Formation d un rseau logique HomePlug AV Lorsque deux adaptateurs avec des valeurs NMK diffrentes sont connects sur le mme rseau lectrique et que l utilisateur veut former un rseau logique. 1. Appuyer sur le bouton SECURITY du premier adaptateur pendant au moins 3 secondes. 2. Dans la minute qui suit, appuyer sur le bouton SECURITY du deuxime adaptateur pendant au moins 3 secondes. 3. Attendre que la connexion soit tablie. La diode d alimentation clignote toutes les secondes sur les 2 adaptateurs

17 17 jusqu ce que la connexion soit tablie ou choue. Si la connexion est tablie, la diode s illumine de manire fixe. Si une erreur survient, la diode du deuxime adaptateur clignote jusqu ce que le bouton soit de nouveau enfonc ou que le premier adaptateur soit rinitialis en appuyant sur le bouton SECURITY pendant plus de 10 secondes. FRANAIS 3.2. Rejoindre un rseau Dans ce scenario, un rseau existe dj et l utilisateur veut ajouter un nouvel adaptateur. Tout appareil sur le rseau existant peut devenir accepter le nouvel appareil. Suivre la mme procdure que ci-dessus, le premier adaptateur tant le nouvel adaptateur Quitter un rseau Dans ce scenario, un rseau existe dj et l utilisateur veut retirer un des adaptateurs du rseau (par exemple pour l inscrire sur un autre rseau logique). 1. Appuyer sur le bouton de l appareil retirer pendant au moins 10 secondes. L adaptateur est rinitialis avec une nouvelle cl NMK. 2. Attendre que la rinitialisation soit termine. La diode d alimentation s teint momentanment pendant la rinitialisation, clignote lors du redmarrage et s illumine de manire fixe. L utilisateur peut alors utiliser l adaptateur pour le coupler un autre rseau logique. 4. Installation de l utilitaire PowerPacket Le programme utilitaire PowerPacket dtecte l ensemble des adaptateurs CPL prsents sur votre rseau domestique, mesure les performances de dbit, garantit la scurit sur votre rseau domestique et effectue les diagnostics ncessaires. Pour installer le logiciel sur votre ordinateur : - Insrer le CDROM dans le lecteur de votre ordinateur. - Sur l cran d introduction, clicker sur le bouton INSTALL pour lancer l installation du logiciel. - Suivre les tapes d installation l cran. Un guide d utilisation est fourni sparment pour vous assister dans l utilisation du logiciel PowerPacket.

In diesem Abschnitt wird beschrieben, wie Sie mithilfe der SECURITY-Taste neue Gerte auf ein HomePlug AV Logical Network (AVLN) aufschalten oder nicht mehr gebrauchte Gerte daraus entfernen knnen Einrichtung eines HomePlug AV Logical Network Wenn zwei Adapter mit unterschiedlichen NMK an dasselbe Stromnetz angeschlossen sind und der Benutzer ein logisches Netzwerk herstellen mchte: 1. Halten Sie die SECURITY-Taste auf dem ersten Adapter fr weniger als 3 Sekunden gedrckt. 2. Halten Sie die SECURITY-Taste auf dem zweiten Adapter innerhalb derselben Minute fr weniger als 3 Sekunden gedrckt. 3. Warten Sie, bis die Verbindung hergestellt ist. Die Power-LED auf beiden Adaptern blinkt gleichmig in Intervallen von einer Sekunde, bis der Vorgang erfolgreich abgeschlossen ist oder fehls-

Wenn ein Fehler vorliegt, blinkt die Power-LED auf dem zweiten Adapter in unregelmigen Abstnden, bis die Taste auf dem ersten Adapter noch mal gedrckt wird oder der zweite Adapter zurckgesetzt wird, indem die Taste fr mehr als 10 Sekunden gehalten wird. DEUTSCH 3.2. Aufschaltung auf ein bestehendes Netzwerk In diesem Szenario mchte der Benutzer einen neuen Adapter zu einem bereits existierenden Netzwerk hinzufgen. Jedes Gert im bestehenden Netzwerk kann verwendet werden, um das neue Gert zu erkennen. Befolgen Sie dieselben Schritte wie oben. Der erste Adapter ist dabei der neue Adapter, der dem Netzwerk hinzugefgt werden soll Entfernung eines Adapters aus einem Netzwerk Der Benutzer mchte einen Adapter aus einem bestehenden Netzwerk entfernen, z.b. weil er ihn in einem anderen logischen Netzwerk verwenden mchte. 1. Drcken Sie die Taste auf dem zu entfernenden Adapter fr mindestens 10 Sekunden. Der Adapter wird zurckgesetzt und startet neu mit einem zufllig gewhlten NMK. 2. Warten Sie, bis der Reset-Vorgang abgeschlossen ist. Die Power-LED auf dem zu entfernenden Adapter erlischt zeitweise whrend des Reset-Vorgangs, blinkt whrend des Neustarts und leuchtet dann durchgehend. Kein Fehler liegt vor. Der Benutzer kann den Adapter nun entfernen oder einem anderen logischen Netzwerk auf demselben Medium hinzufgen. 4. Installation des PowerPacket-Dienstprogramms Das PowerPacket-Dienstprogramm erkennt berbrckungsgerte fr PLC- Ethernet-Verbindungen mit 200 MBit/s in einem Netzwerk, misst Datenbertragungsraten, gewhrleistet die Sicherheit des Netzwerks und fhrt Diagnosen durch. Um die Software auf Ihrem Computer zu installieren: - Legen Sie die CD-ROM in das CD-ROM-Laufwerk in Ihrem Computer ein. - Beginnen Sie die Software-Installation, indem Sie im Begrungsfenster auf das entsprechende Feld klicken. - Befolgen Sie die im Installationsverfahren aufgefhrten Schritte.
