A etapa Prime, Cascais Billabong Pro, inaugurou-se em 2013 como parte do MOCHE Series. Foi a praia de Carcavelos que recebeu o evento, fazendo justiça ao estatuto de ser uma das melhores ondas do país. Foi com ondas de um metro e meio que a prova começou e sete surfistas portugueses estavam presentes. A grande surpresa do primeiro dia foi o surfista da Ericeira, Tomás Fernandes, que fazia a sua estreia num Prime. Durante grande parte do heat foram os seus adversários que dominaram até Fernandes apanhar uma onda com potencial... Arriscou bastante e conseguiu a melhor nota da bateria, garantindo assim a vitória sobre o ex-campeão mundial CJ Hobgood e ainda Tom Whitaker e Dale Staples, um feito incrível para o júnior português! Também Nicolau Von Rupp, Marlon Lipke e Frederico Morais passaram para a fase seguinte, sendo eventualmente eliminados da prova no dia seguinte. O grande destaque das fases seguintes foi Gabriel Medina, o fenómeno brasileiro, que esteve muito perto de vencer o Rip Curl Pro Portugal, etapa do WCT realizada dias antes em Peniche. O surf progressivo de Medina foi posto ao teste nas pesadas ondas de Carcavelos e o resultado foi impressionante, conseguindo a maior média do campeonato. The Cascais Billabong Pro, Prime event, was inaugurated in 2013 as part of the MOCHE Series. Carcavelos was the beach that received the event, doing justice to its status of being one of the best waves in the country. The event started with meter and a half waves and seven portuguese were ready to compete in Carcavelos. The big surprise of the day was the surfer from Ericeira, Tomás Fernandes, who was making his debut on a prime contest. For much of the heat their opponents dominated but it was only until Fernandes caught a wave with potential. He surfed hard and got the best score of the heat, thus ensuring victory over former world champion CJ Hobgood and as wells as Tom Whitaker and Dale Staples, an amazing feat for the Portuguese Junior! Nicolau Von Rupp, Marlon Lipke and Frederico Morais also moved into the next round but were eventually eliminated the next day. The highlight of these early rounds was Gabriel Medina, the Brazilian phenomenon, who came very close to winning the Rip Curl Pro Portugal, WCT event held days earlier in Peniche. The progressive surfing of Medina was put to the test in the heavy waves of Carcavelos and the result was impressive, posting the highest average of the entire contest.

Gabriel Medina acabaria eliminado no round de 16, numa bateria de poucas ondas contra Mitch Crews. Às meias finais chegavam surfistas de quatro nacionalidades diferentes, o norte-americano Conner Coffin, o brasileiro Jadson André, Carlos Munoz da Costa Rica e o francês Jeremy Flores. Jadson eliminou Jeremy, enquanto que Conner deixava Munoz de fora. A final foi vencida por Jadson André, que conseguia igualar a melhor nota de todo o campeonato, um 10 que recebeu graças a um longo tubo. O estiloso Conner Coffin fez o que pôde mas não conseguiu responder com notas iguais e acabou em segundo lugar. A outra nota 10 do evento tinha sido feita pelo eventual vencedor do MOCHE Series, Adam Melling. Este prémio seria atribuído ao surfista que mais pontuasse na Triple Crown Portuguesa, que juntava os três grandes campeonatos de surf em águas portuguesas, o Sata Airlines Azores Islands Pro (etapa Prime), o MOCHE Rip Curl Pro Portugal (WCT) e o Cascais Billabong Pro. Melling ficou em 2º lugar nos Açores, 13º em Peniche e 5º em Carcavelos, garantindo assim o prémio extra de 50.000 dólares atribuído ao vencedor do MOCHE Series. Gabriel Medina was eventually eliminated in the round of 16 in a battery of few waves against Mitch Crews. Surfers from four different nationalities - the American Conner Coffin, Brazilian Jadson André, Carlos Munoz of Costa Rica and the Frenchman Jeremy Flores - made the semi-finals. Jeremy was eliminated by Jadson, while Conffin left Munoz out. The final was won by Jadson Andre who matched the best score for the entire week, receiving 10 score thanks to a long tube. The stylish Conner Coffin surfed well but could not respond with equal scores and finished second. The other 10 belonged to the eventual winner MOCHE Series, Adam Melling. This prize would be awarded to the surfer who scored the most at the Portugues Triple Crown, which joined the three major championships surf in Portuguese waters, the Sata Airlines Azores Islands Pro (Prime), the Rip Curl Pro Portugal MOCHE (WCT) and the Cascais Billabong Pro. Melling came in 2nd place in the Azores, 13th in Peniche and 5th in Carcavelos, winning the $50,000 prize awarded to the winner of MOCHE Series.
Mais um título foi atribuído nesta prova, o de campeão Europeu. Jeremy Flores é o melhor surfista do continente europeu e apesar de ter conquistado o título de campeão europeu júnior, ainda não tinha conseguido o primeiro lugar na categoria Open. Ao terminar em terceiro lugar nesta etapa conquistou o inédito título, juntando mais um excelente resultado à sua incrível carreira. In the qualifying circuit his most important results were a second place at the Sooruz Lacanau Pro, a 5 star WQS event, and a fourth placing in the final at Vans World Cup of Surfing, a Prime held in Hawaii. Vasco Ribeiro é uma das maiores promessas de sempre do surf português. Aos 20 anos já conta com dois títulos de campeão da Liga MOCHE e tem fortes possibilidades de conquistar o título do circuito Pro Junior Europeu e o tri-campeonato da Liga. Os últimos anos têm sido de grande ascensão, mas foi em 2014 que o surfista luso chegou mais vezes aos quartos de final das etapas de qualificação. Contra si jogou a sua localização no ranking, que não lhe deu acesso a competir nas etapas mais valiosas, algo que se inverteu recentemente. At 20 years of age he already has two national league titles and is a strong candidate to the European Pro Junior Title as well as his third Liga MOCHE title. He has been on the rise for the last few years and in 2014 he was the Portuguese who arrived more often to the quarter-finals of the qualifying events. Unfortunatelly his seeding was low and he didn t had access to the most valuable events, something that was reversed recently. Talvez por isso tenha optado recentemente pela nacionalidade portuguesa, depois de uma longa carreira a representar a Alemanha. Para trás ficou o título Europeu Pro Junior e Open, o 3º lugar no mundial de juniores da ASP e um ano de experiência no WCT. Lipke nunca mais encontrou o ritmo competitivo que o levou à elite do surf mundial, mas o seu power surf manteve-se actual e a qualquer momento poderá voltar a estar entre os melhores. Despite his German origins, Marlon Lipke was born and raised in the Algarve. Maybe that s why he recently opted to compete under the Portuguese nationality, after a long career representing Germany. In the past he had great success, he won the European Pro Junior and Open titles, placed 3rd in the ASP World Junior Championship and qualified for the WCT. Lipke never found the competitive pace that took him to the elite of the surfing world, but his power surfing maintains him as one of the best and any day he could be back on top. A meio do ano competitivo Nicolau Von Rupp era o português mais bem rankeado no circuito de qualificação a seguir a Tiago Pires. O surfista da Praia Grande mostrou muito potencial como competidor desde muito novo, mas foi como free surfer de ondas perfeitas e pesadas que se tornou num dos mais mediáticos surfistas da actualidade. Foi no início do ano que o seu foco voltou para a competição, atrás de algo que nunca deixou de ser o seu objectivo, conseguir uma vaga no WCT. O seu 9º lugar na etapa de Balito, África do Sul, garantiu-lhe o seu primeiro resultado sólido de 2014, além de lhe dar acesso às provas Prime do segundo semestre, essenciais para completar o seu objectivo mais imediato. Halfway through the year Nicolau Von Rupp was the second highest ranked portuguese surfer on the qualifying tour, only behind the WCTier Tiago Pires. Von Rupp showed great potential as a competitor at a young age, but it was as a free surfer of perfect and heavy waves that he became one of the most famous surfers of today. Never forgetting his goal of making the WCT he shifted his focus back to competition and placed 9th at the Balito Prime event, in South Africa.
