8 Utilization In this section it will be explain how to synchronize contacts and entities with IPBrick Contacts and events with Webcalendar from Microsoft Outlook. 8.1 Contacts At Microsoft Outlook when the synchronization starts, Funambol Client creates two sub-folders at default folder of contacts: Contacts_IPBrick and Contacts_LDAPUsers (name by default). The Personal Contacts will not be synchronized. 8.1.1 Contacts_IPBrick The sub-folder Contacts_IPBrick has the contacts and entities from IPBrick Contacts. IPBrick Contacts is organized with entities and contacts. The entities and contacts are shared. Each entity represents a company, an organization, or something that represents a group of people. So, each entity have contacts. A person to access IPBrick Contacts must have to authenticate according with the local definitions of authentication and it needs to have a profile that permits. So IPBrick Contacts have a profile system that define profiles to read, write or administrate contacts and/or entities. At Client, contacts of an entity have the field Company with the name of entity. An entity appears with field Full Name not defined. To add a contact, create a contact at sub-folder Contacts_IPBrick with field Full Name defined. The field Company defined which entity the contact belongs. If this field is not defined the contact belongs to the entity by default named Others (name by default). To add an entity, create a contact at sub-folder Contacts_IPBrick with Full Name not defined and the field Company must have the entity name. Entities created at this client will be create in the IPBrick Contacts with entity type by default Generic (name by default). If you remove an entity at the Client this modification will not be synchronized. The modifications are synchronized according with profiles at IPBrick Contacts. 8.1.2 Contacts_LDAPUsers The sub-folder Contacts_LDAPUsers has the emails of the users on authentication system (LDAP or Active Directory). The contacts are read-only, and it is not able to add contacts. Page 18 / 19
8.2 Events At Microsoft Outlook when synchronization starts, Funambol Client synchronize events from default folder of Calendar from Microsoft Outlook with the events on the Webcalendar. The application Webcalendar is a web application that permits manage your calendar. This application also permits to manage the calendar of others users. Users that can manage other user calendar are named assistants. Only an user can define others users to be its assistants at Webcalendar. If an user is assistant of others users, the calendars of others users appears at Microsoft Outlook as sub-folder of default folder of Calendar like for example Calendar_user1, where user1 is the user name from the owner of that calendar. At this calendar you also it possible to add, modify events. The events of other calendar users are removed, only if the user that create it are the same that remove. Page 19 / 19
