Estimation of Housing Demand at the Census Track Levels for Brazilian Municipalities. Caixa Economica Federal. The objective of this project is to create new a methodology for creating a better estimate of housing demand in very small areas at the state capitals in Brazil. combining them with the entire census microdata, which are more suitable to estimate more accurate figures at the small areas. The Fertility Transition in Brazil: 1960-2000. (PI: Joseph Potter) NIH/NICHD The project has the objective to investigate relations between fertility, mortality, and development in Brazil from 1960 to 2000, analyzing fertility transition in both time and space, using microdata from five censuses carried out during the period. Latin America Family Network (Maria Coleta Oliveira, Frank Furstenberg, Andrés Peri) This network was initiated to study Latin American family and the performance of children and young people. A pilot study was carried out in Montevideo to test the questionnaire and design of the survey. Reproductive Health Indicator System (PI: Suzana Cavenaghi) United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA-Brazil) and Brazilian Population Association (ABEP). The work is focused on defining a set of indicator on reproductive health and sexuality at the municipality level in Brazil for monitoring the advances in each priority area. Office of Public Microdata Use (PI: Suzana Cavenaghi) Ford Foundation This project has the objective of given access and information to Brazilian public Microdata users in order to disseminate the proper way to utilize variable and indicators derived from censuses, household surveys, and administrative records data. The new legislation on voluntary sterilization in Brazil (Elza Berquó) Ford Foundation The project had field data collection, with follow-up of women and men in six capitals in Brazil to analyze the impacts of the law on the waiting time to sterilization and to inquire about the accordance and compliance with all the criteria set in the law by the health personal and users. National Science Foundation to University of Minnesota Preservation, Integration and Dissemination of Public-use Microdata Series-Brazil The parent project will create and disseminate an integrated international census database composed of high-precision, high-density samples of individuals and households from seven countries. The work at UT-Austin is focused on the Brazilian censuses. D.
