Para tal será considerado um conjunto de objetivos secundários que a seguir se enumeram: sensibilização para a importância da investigação e conservação do património cultural; descrição de diferentes metodologias de identificação e levantamento do património construído; apresentação de casos emblemáticos de salvaguarda do património e reconhecimento da relevância dos processos de conservação integrada no contexto de modelos de intervenção social e ambientalmente mais qualificados; caracterização das diferentes expressões do património cultural e da sua relevância no processo de evolução do conceito ao longo do tempo; descrição das condições particulares que enquadram o património arquitectónico no contexto da história da cidade e da história da paisagem. 3 Conteúdos programáticos Conceitos fundamentais relacionados com o património. Património natural e património Cultural. Bem cultural. Monumentos, conjuntos e sítios. A evolução do conceito de património da segunda metade do século XIX até à atualidade. As diferentes expressões do património cultural. Património e arquitetura: do monumento ao conjunto. Arquitetura vernacular. Património e cidade: património urbano e património industrial. Património e paisagem: património rural e paisagem cultural. Património e comunidade: do património material ao imaterial. Cartas e convenções internacionais. Enquadramento legal e âmbito institucional do património cultural. A gestão do património cultural: inventariação, conservação, valoração e proteção. Conservação integrada do património cultural. Exemplos paradigmáticos. Património, sustentabilidade e turismo cultural. Metodologias de ensino (avaliação incluída) A metodologia de ensino desta UC incide na complementaridade entre a componente teórica e o desenvolvimento de um trabalho de pesquisa a elaborar ao longo do semestre. A componente teórica corresponderá à apresentação, de carácter expositivo com recurso à projeção de imagens, das diferentes tópicos enumerados no programa. É ainda prevista a participação de especialistas, investigadores ou técnicos com experiência no estudo e conservação de determinados bens culturais. A pesquisa a realizar pelos estudantes corresponde a um trabalho de grupo com avaliação individual, consistindo numa introdução e numa conclusão redigida em conjunto e em diferentes capítulos, cada um dos quais redigido por um aluno individualmente. O tema, a metodologia e a estrutura do trabalho serão propostos pelos alunos com acompanhamento em cada aula pelo docente. In order to do so, a set of secondary objectives will be considered: awareness of the importance of research and conservation of cultural heritage; description of different methodologies for identifying and surveying the built heritage; study of emblematic cases of heritage protection; recognition of the relevance of socially and environmentally concerned conservation processes; characterization of the different expressions of cultural heritage and their relevance in the process of evolution of the concept over time; description of the particular conditions that fit the architectural heritage in the context of the city's history and the history of the landscape. Syllabus Fundamental concepts of heritage. Natural heritage and cultural heritage. Cultural asset. Monuments, groups of buildings and sites of cultural value. Evolution of the concept of heritage from the second half of the nineteenth century to the present. Different expressions of cultural heritage. Heritage and architecture: from the monument to the groups of buildings. Vernacular architecture. Heritage and city: urban heritage and industrial heritage. Heritage and landscape: rural heritage and cultural landscape. Heritage and community: from material to intangible heritage. International charters and conventions. Legal framework and institutional scope of cultural heritage. The management of cultural heritage: inventory, conservation, valuation and protection. Heritage, sustainability and cultural tourism. 7 Teaching methodologies (including evaluation) The teaching methodology of this UC focuses on the complementarity between the theoretical component and the development of a research work. The theoretical component will correspond to the presentation of the different topics listed in the program, commenting a large bunch of differnt images. It may also include the participation of specialists, researchers or technicians with experience in the study and conservation of certain cultural assets. The research to be carried out by the students corresponds to a group work with individual evaluation, consisting of an introduction and a conclusion drawn together and in different chapters, each of which is written by an individual student. Students will propose the subject, the methodology and the structure of the work with accompaniment in each class by the teacher.
