SP-Arte, the leading art fair in Latin America, is returning for its 12th edition on April 7 10, kicking off with a VIP/Professional Preview on April 6. It offers an unparalleled opportunity to become immersed in São Paulo s thriving art scene and explore works by emerging and established artists from the Latin American and international art scene. Held in the historic Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion, designed by Pritzker Laureate Oscar Niemeyer, SP-Arte presents a dynamic mix of renowned art exhibitors and leading art galleries, alternative art practices, a rich cultural program and a talks program with distinguished artists, curators, critics and collectors. In addition to a new sector that highlights Brazil s long history of design focused on authorial pieces in furniture, lighting, and antiques, the 12th edition of the fair includes a main area that features notable Brazilian galleries such as Dan, Fortes Vilaça, Luisa Strina, Mendes Wood DM, Nara Roesler and Vermelho, as well as high-profile international exhibitors like Continua, Cardi, David Zwirner, kurimanzutto, Lisson, Michael Werner, neugerriemschneider and White Cube. SP-Arte also presents curated section with cutting-edge programs and artworks that challenge visitors, including the Solo sector, curated by Luiza Teixeira de Freitas; Open Plan, a section dedicated to large works and installations, curated by Jacopo Crivelli Visconti; and the Performance sector, curated by Centro Universitario Belas Artes, a remarkable Brazilian faculty of Fine Arts. Talks and panel discussions have been organized in collaboration with the Brazilian art magazine, ARTE!Brasileiros, and feature prominent artists, critics, curators, and collectors. Including Mari Carmen Ramírez (Museum of Fine Arts, Houston); Ella Fontanals-Cisneros (CIFO Cisneros Fontanals Art); Franklin Sirmans (Pérez Art Museum Miami); and Joan Weinstein (Getty Foundation). Tax exemption for SP-Arte extended to 2016 SP-Arte/2016 is delighted to confirm that the State of São Paulo has ratified the tax exemption for the Fair s 12th edition, it applies to all works sold during SP-Arte worth up to R$3 million reais (including inventory sales). For works below this value, the total import rate will be approximately 15%, and for works sold above this value, the total tax will be close to 20%. The tax exemption benefits sales of foreign galleries to residents of the State of São Paulo. It also applies to local São Paulo based galleries participating in SP-Arte.
