Claudia Quiroga Cortez Help parents navigate PAUSD by providing regular communications about school and district events and opportunities. Also, assist parents to develop a greater understanding of educational practice, policies and procedures. Hours: Monday from 8:00 to 4:00pm and Wednesday from 8:00am to 10:30am and from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Katrien Hemelsoet Ms. H EL Specialist Help all students develop English Language Proficiency and master subject matter proficiency Push-in: Support learning in the classroom - 2 times per week in 3-5 cluster classes, 1 time per week K-2 classes Co-teach some classes, provide small group support in others, or a combination Organize primary language tutors for student with limited proficiency (6 languages, 28 hours) Monitor progress using ELPAC, ADEPT, District Assessment and teacher feedback Email: khemelsoet@pausd.org

Timeline ELPAC Start of Summative Assessment in California: February 2018 Start date Fairmeadow: March 5, 2018 (grades 3-5) through April, 2018 Start of ELPAC Initiative Assessment: July 2018
CELDT v. ELPAC CELDT One test used for 2 purposes Fall testing window 5 performance levels K-1, 2, 3-5 Aligned with 1999 ELD standards Still used as initial assessment until July 2018 ELPAC Two separate tests: initial (short) and summative February-May testing window 4 performance levels K, 1, 2, 3-5 Aligned with 2012 ELD standards
ELCPAC v. CELDT
Initial v. Summative ELPAC Initial Evaluates how much students know when they enter school Is given to students who have a primary language other than English when they enter the school system Within 30 days after enrollment Starts July 2018 Summative Evaluates how much students have learned during the year Test given to students identified as EL by the initial assessment Measures the skills of students to determine if they can exit the program Given between February and May each year
Initial and Summative Assessment Tests 4 different areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing New levels of oral and written skills: 1. Minimally developed (1) (emerging) 2. Somewhat developed (2) (expanding) 3. Moderately developed (3) (expanding/bridging) 4. Well developed (4) (bridging)

How can I help my child get ready for the ELPAC? Read to or with your child every day Use pictures and ask your child to tell you in English what they see Practice test: ELPAC website resources https://www.elpac.org/resources/practicetests/
When will my child exit EL program 1. IFEP Initially Fluent and English Proficient 2. RFEP Redesignated as Fluent and English Proficient Students from 2 nd through 5 th grade EL for 2 years Scored Bridging on the ELPAC and on grade level in reading and writing CAASPP score of nearly met or met standard EL Specialist, classroom teacher, principal and parents are in agreement
