Jundiai Expanded Region Economic Relevance São Paulo is the most populous and rich Brazilian state. Occupying just 2.9 of Brazil territory, it has 21.3 of the country's population, and 33.5 of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). With a complex and varied economy, the state is a very important consumer goods, capital goods, materials and services producer and supplier region, leading the other Brazilian states in exports overseas. With large population concentration of population and national population, the State of São Paulo has within its boundaries regions with important economic and population concentration. The Municipality of Jundiai is at the heart of the most developed part of the State of Sao Paulo. In this analysis, we define a conceptual region, in a 100 km circle, with its center in Jundiai s City Municipal Area (see picture below). This region, which we call Jundiai Expanded Region", is the most important, rich and developed of the state of São Paulo and, for extension, of the whole country. Note: the denomination "Jundiai Expanded Region" means simply that we adopted the Jundiai Municipal Area as the center of the geometric illustration in this study. We do not mean to privilege Jundiaí over neighboring cities municipal districts, which has larger and richer economies, including the State capital (São Paulo), and some of the best-structured Brazilian municipal districts. The region also has 12.7 of the State of São Paulo territory, with 71.9 of the state's population and 81.1 of the state's wealth. The following chart summarizes this information: Jundiai Expanded Region Area Population GNP State Country To be complete, and to better understand the economic importance of this region, we present these key indicators: The Region is composed of 148 municipal districts, among the 645 state Municipal districts of the State of São Paulo; Inside this Region, we find all the 10 largest municipal economies of the State of São Paulo, or 17 of the 20 larger municipal economies, and 25 of the 30 state's larger economies, according to municipal GDP indexes. Corroborating this, it is possible and enlightening to compare the Expanded Region with other Brazilian States. 4 Finally, the Expanded Region GSP, if we compare it with the GSP (in current U.S Dollars) of world nations, it would occupy the 22 nd position among the largest world economies, and it would be ahead of the following nations, according to the GNP Data of the countries, published by the International Monetary Fund: "The Expanded Region of Jundiaí has 81.1 of the State of São Paulo GDP" The resulting observations we extract from this short study clearly shows that the Jundiai Municipal District is located at the center of the more developed and rich region of the State of São Paulo and of the Country. The construction of this reality over decades, benefited the development of the municipal districts located in this Expanded Region, as per our definition above.

5 We have, however to consider that the past successes are not a guaranty for the future. Although with unique general infrastructure and economic power, the cities of the region are implementing guidelines and actions that maintain the continuity of their development, in a dynamic and extremely competitive world.
