2 IWC2001 The CEA (Centro de Estudos de Águas/Water Studies Centre) is an extension unit of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto. Its activity in the field of water usage and treatment is developed to fulfil private and official Companies needs. CEA also integrates research, technology development and training within its competence area. In 1988 and 1990, CEA organised, with success, two Meetings about Industrial Waters. Considering that Porto is one of the Capitals of the European Culture in 2001, CEA has decided to associate with this joint effort, and bring together in this year scientists, technicians and students interested in Water and its utilisation.
