Objectivos de aprendizagem (conhecimentos, aptidões e competências a desenvolver pelos estudantes) Pretende-se introduzir o aluno na natureza científica e metodologia próprias das ciências sociais e da sociologia em particular, bem como nas questões básicas que constituem o seu corpus disciplinar. Depois de uma introdução ao estatuto científico e metodológico da sociologia, e sua diferenciação de outras ciências sociais, e leituras do social, analisam-se as relações entre natureza, cultura e sociedade, em várias das suas manifestações, e termina-se o programa com uma abordagem preliminar à diferenciação social, e uma análise e explicação da problemática da estratificação e da estrutura de classes, bem como da mobilidade e mudança social que lhe está associada. Learning outcomes of the curricular unit The intention is to introduce the student in the scientific and methodological nature of the social sciences, and of the sociology in particular, as well in the basic questions of its academic corpus. After an introduction to the scientific and methodological status of sociology, and to its differentiation of others social sciences, we begin with the analysis of the relations between nature and culture in society, in its several demonstrations, to close the programme with an introductory study of the social differentiation, analyzing and explaining the social stratification and the class structure as well the correspondents theories of social mobility and the social change

Metodologia de ensino (avaliação incluída) Em cada semana será dada uma aula teórica de exposição sistemática de cada ponto do programa, sobre o qual se seguirá uma aula prática de apresentação e debate pelos e com os alunos. Os alunos serão avaliados pela sua participação nas aulas e pela demonstração de conhecimentos nas provas para tal elaboradas, ou seja duas frequências : uma em meados do semestre, outra no final. Quem não tiver aproveitamento na avaliação contínua ao longo do curso, poderá ir a exame final, constante de prova escrita e oral. A nota final da avaliação contínua resultará da média das notas nas duas frequências e da nota da exposição em aula prática. Teaching methodologies (including evaluation) In each week will be given a theoretical lesson with the systematic explanation of each point of the programme, and a practical lesson to the presentation and discussion by the students of related texts. The students will be evaluated through the participation in classes and the probation of knowledge in the two examination moments: the first one at the middle of the semester, and the second one at the end. To the students without positive evaluation during the course, it will be a final examination, with written and oral moments. The final classification of the continuous evaluation will be the average of the classifications obtained in the two examination moments and the classification obtained in the oral presentation in the practical lesson.
