18 #11 Network Data analytics In SDN networks network information is obtainable (flow durations ; packet counts; byte counts etc...) Packet contents are increasingly secret (e.g. HTTPs traffic). What can we learn from collected data using data analytics: Data classification, Pattern recognition, Etc.. Approach: Build on top of ongoing work (SDN application developed on top of HP SDN VAN controller) that collects traffic statistics from network vantage points. 20 #13 New approach to Quality of Service Requirements: approval in Configuração e Gestão de Redes The current Internet is being criticized by the amount of delay and latency of the applications. This work has the objective of studying new forms of traffic management on the Internet to reduce packet delay. We know from queueing theory that if we want to reduce delay we must have to accept losses. Therefore, a control mechanism (either open or closed) must be devised to enable low delay traffic. The advent of VTN (Virtual Tennant Networks) will be used to 20 justify the approach of this work.

This work has the objective of studying new forms of traffic management on the Internet to reduce packet delay.

21 #14 New frontiers for network security Requirements: approval in Configuração e Gestão de Redes The SDN allows a different approach to network security. The whole network can be audited instead of performing observation from a single point/device. There are challenges in terms of collecting and treating information, how the controllers can be aggregated to manage the collected information, or how the information must be handled. Examples of activities are: network-wide intrusion detection systems; detection of malicious switch behavior; or network 21 forensics.

22 #15 Massive MIMO for power efficient communications Requirements: approval in CSF and CD Massive MIMO can be employed for beam forming with power efficient transmission structures to assure a different approach to physical layer security and low interference.. There are challenges in terms of transmitter and array configuration and the best trade-offs between power directivity, information directivity and how configurations should be handled. 22

23 #16 New transmission techniques for Milimetric waves Requirements: approval in CSF and CD Milimetric waves allows the implementation of new transmission structures for further system communications. However, some problems may arise such as channel characterization and estimation techniques and identification of the modulation/transmission schemes suitable for these wave lengths. 23
