2 NOTES OF GUIDANCE 2016/2017 February 2016 These notes are intended to clarify the fees and methods of payment for the school year. Parents are advised to contact the Accounts Office at should there be any queries regarding this topic. 1. Tuition fees Tuition fees are traditionally paid termly, in July, December and March of each year, within thirty days of the invoice date. This payment can be made directly to the Accounts Office, in person, by bank transfer or by direct debit. Parents may request an annual invoice, which must be settled in July of the previous academic year, upon which a discount of 2% will be granted. Parents may also choose to pay monthly, incurring on ten monthly instalments from July to April. Please note that this option is only available if payment is made by direct debit. Please contact the Accounts Office in order to obtain a direct debit payment authorisation form. Parents who wish to pay more than one year s fees in advance are kindly asked to contact the Head of Finance and Business Operations, António Vilhena, to discuss the options available. Payments not received within terms of the invoice are subject to an administrative charge of 4% of the outstanding payments, which in no case shall exceed 150. Interest on late payments is applicable according to Portuguese law. In case payments are more than 5 weeks overdue, the school will hire professional collection services at a cost to the parents. Invoices are sent by . Parents are asked to inform the school of any changes or corrections to their invoice or contact details. Parents are kindly requested to keep all receipts issued by the school, for tax return purposes. Should parents decide not to re-enrol their child at St. Julian s School, please note that a term's notice must be given in writing to the Headmaster; otherwise, parents will be charged for a term s fees. For this purpose, parents are asked to complete the Re-enrolment, in order to guarantee a place for their child for the following school year. A discount of 15% on fees is made for the third child enrolled at St. Julian s and a 25% discount is given to each subsequent child. Fees cover most school trips arranged as part of the curriculum, but not international travel or optional activities that are charged separately. 2. Additional Resources St. Julian s may charge additional fees to cover for additional resources such as English as an Additional Language (EAL) or specific Special Educational Needs (SEN). 3. School Lunches Lunches are ordered for the full term. Should absence through illness last for at least five consecutive days a refund will take place. Changes for subsequent terms need to be notified by the end of November and February, respectively. Daily tickets are also available. 4. Personal Accident Insurance Personal Accident Insurance is included in tuition fees. The coverage runs from September to June. Please refer to Personal Accident Insurance procedures for details. 5. Examinations Internal and External Examinations take place in Years 6, 9, 10, 11 (IGCSE), 12 and 13 (IB). Examination costs are usually included in the 2nd or 3rd term invoices. Re-marking of exams will be charged separately and must be paid in advance. Should the re-marking benefit the student, this cost will be refunded. 6. Preparation Year The preparation year is open to students who did not follow the English National Curriculum and wish to enrol in IB Programme. The fee for this year is the same as for Year International Baccalaureate Fees Two Year IB Programme The IB Programme involves a teaching commitment of five terms. The sixth term is entirely dedicated to examinations. A fee for the entire Two Year IB Programme (Years 12 and 13) is set at the start of each academic year, to enable parents to be clear as to their total commitment to enrolling their child at the school to complete this programme over the course of two years. As a logical payment schedule, the IB tuition fee is payable in five terms, three in Year 12 and two in Year 13, as outlined in the fee schedule.

3 NOTAS EXPLICATIVAS 2016/2017 Fevereiro 2016 Estas notas têm como finalidade prestar informações sobre as propinas e as modalidades de pagamento para o próximo ano letivo. Em caso de dúvida sobre pagamentos, por favor contactar o Accounts Office através do mcsilva@stjulians.com, estamos sempre inteiramente ao dispor para qualquer esclarecimento. 1. Propinas As propinas são pagas trimestralmente nos meses de julho, dezembro e março de cada ano, nos trinta dias seguintes à data da fatura. O Encarregado de Educação pode solicitar a emissão de uma fatura anual que deverá ser liquidada em julho. Esta forma de pagamento beneficia de um desconto de 2%. Poderá também optar por pagamentos através de 10 prestações mensais de julho a abril. Chamamos a atenção para o facto de esta forma de pagamento só ser possível mediante ativação de débito direto. Por favor contactar o Accounts Office para obter o formulário de autorização de débito direto. Caso seja pretendido liquidar adiantadamente mais do que um ano de propinas, os Encarregados de Educação deverão contactar o Head of Finance and Business Operations, António Vilhena, para informações sobre os descontos disponíveis. Os pagamentos não liquidados segundo as condições discriminadas na fatura ficam sujeitos a uma taxa administrativa de 4%, que em nenhum caso excederá 150. Os juros sobre pagamentos em atraso são aplicáveis segundo a Lei Portuguesa. No caso de pagamentos com mais de 5 semanas de atraso, o Colégio recorrerá aos serviços de agência de gestão de créditos e cobranças, a expensas da entidade devedora. As faturas são enviadas por correio eletrónico. Solicitamos aos Encarregados de Educação que nos mantenham informados de qualquer alteração aos seus endereços. Pedimos que sejam guardados todos os recibos emitidos pelo Colégio para fins de declaração de impostos. O Encarregado de Educação deverá notificar o Diretor da saída do aluno, com uma antecedência mínima de um trimestre. Caso contrário serão debitadas as propinas equivalentes a um trimestre. Todos os anos é solicitado aos Encarregados de Educação o preenchimento do formulário de renovação de matrícula, de forma a garantir a matrícula do aluno para o ano letivo seguinte. É concedido um desconto de 15% ao 3º filho, e de 25% a partir do 4º filho, inclusive. As propinas cobrem o transporte das visitas de estudo integradas no currículo mas não incluem visitas ao estrangeiro ou atividades opcionais. 2. Apoio Adicional O colégio poderá solicitar um pagamento suplementar aos alunos que necessitem de apoio adicional à língua inglesa ou outras necessidades educativas especiais. 3. Almoços A inscrição para os almoços é trimestral. No caso de ausência durante pelo menos cinco dias consecutivos, por motivos de saúde, o colégio reembolsa o valor correspondente. As alterações para o 2º e 3º trimestre devem ser comunicadas ao Colégio até ao fim de novembro e fevereiro, respetivamente. Está também disponível a venda avulso de senhas de almoço. 4. Seguro de Acidentes Pessoais O seguro está incluído nas propinas. Vigora de setembro a junho. Para mais informações, pode ser consultado o documento de procedimentos do seguro escolar. 5. Exames Os exames internos e externos são realizados nos Years 6, 9, 10, 11 (GCSE), 12 e 13 (IB). Os custos dos mesmos são, por norma, incluídos nas faturas do 2º ou 3ºtrimestre. O pedido de revisão de prova deve ser pago antecipadamente. Caso a nota favoreça o aluno, o valor liquidado será reembolsado. 6. Ano de preparação Os alunos que não seguiram o currículo inglês, poderão frequentar o ano vestibular para ingresso no programa IB. O valor da propina deste ano é igual à do Year Propinas do International Baccalaureate Programa de dois anos Este programa é lecionado ao longo de cinco trimestres. O sexto trimestre é dedicado exclusivamente a exames. As propinas para a totalidade deste programa são fixadas no início de cada ano lectivo, permitindo aos Encarregados de Educação o conhecimento prévio dos custos envolvidos. Os pagamentos são realizados ao longo dos cinco trimestres, três no ano 12 e dois no ano 13, como exposto na tabela de propinas.
