2 St. James R.C. Church April 24, My dear Parishioners, We will be known as disciples of the Lord by the love we have for one another. This is the Word of Jesus in the Gospel of this fifth Sunday of Easter. Love is fundamental for a disciple of Christ. Saint Paul even says that all the gifts we have, and all we do for others is worth nothing if we don't have love. Love is not making donations for the poor, nor the exercising of charismatic gifts. Love is more profound. It is giving of oneself, it is compassion, it is mercy. May we know how to truly love! In the Eucharist we have this profound experience of love, the sacrifice of the cross, and the victory of the Resurrection. What are we if we don't love? Chimes that ring in vain, only making noise. In this Easter Season we see many signs of Christ in our midst, especially in our different communities. We have the American community, so beloved and filled with zeal for the Church, the help they give us on the finance committee, in the beautiful history of our Church. Did you know that some years ago the Brazilians were looking for a church where they could have Mass, and it was the Americans of this parish that welcomed them? Some other communities did not offer them space, but the Americans of this parish, many of whom are still with us today, opened their arms so that the Brazilian community might exist. And today, it is the largest Brazilian community in the entire State. And the Portuguese community, a sign of the Resurrection, with its loving spirit, its involvement in the pastoral works, its devotion to Our Lady of Fatima! When quite a large group of the Portuguese Faithful went to neighboring churches, our group did not abandon us. The are with us today, and with the Brazilians who are the right arm of our pastoral works and finances, with their ideas, and feasts, and so many beautiful things that happen. Together we are strong, we are the Lord's flock. Congratulations! We are also happy because our parish will celebrate the First Communion of our children next week. This Sunday they renew their faith at a festive Mass, intimately joined to the sacrifice of the altar. We are also modernizing our parish communication system. We are on Facebook, and we opened an account on Instagram and on Twitter, channels of communication of modern society, especially of our youth. Church 24 de Abril April de 24, CALENDÁRIO SEMANAL DA COMUNIDADE grande de portugueses foram para as Igrejas PORTUGUESA E BRASILEIRA 2 de Fevereiro vizinhas, de 2014 eles não nos abandonaram, e permaneceram firmes. E a comunidade brasileira, braço forte de ajuda pastoral, financeira, com suas idéias, festas e tantas coisas bonitas. Juntos somos mais fortes, somos comunidade do Senhor! Parabéns! Meus queridos Paroquianos, Nós seremos conhecidos como discípulos do Senhor pelo amor que temos uns com os outros. Esta é a palavra de Jesus no Evangelho deste quinto domingo da Páscoa. O amor é fundamental para o discipulo de Cristo. São Paulo chega a dizer que de nada vale todos os dons ou sermos pessoas que fazemos tudo pelo outro se não termos amor. Porquê amor não é fazer tudo, não são doações aos pobres, nem o exercício dos carismas. Amor é muito mais profundo, é renúncia, é compaixão, é misericórdia. Que saibamos amar de verdade. Na Eucaristia encontramos esta experiência profunda de amor, sacrifício de cruz e vitória da ressurreição. Quem somos nós se não amarmos? Sinos que tocam em vão, só fazendo barulho. Neste tempo da Ressurreição podemos ver tantos sinais do Cristo em nosso meio, especialmente em nossas comunidades diferentes. A comunidade americana tão querida e cheia de zelo pela Igreja, a ajuda que nos prestam no conselho das finanças, na história bonita desta Igreja. Você sabia que há muito tempo atrás os brasileiros estavam procurando uma Igreja onde pudessem celebrar uma missa e foram os americanos desta paróquia que acolheram? Várias outras comunidades não cederam o espaço, mas esta, estes americanos que estão aqui até hoje, abriram os braços para que a comunidade brasileira pudesse existir, e hoje, é a maior comunidade de brasileiros de todo o Estado! A comunidade portuguesa também, sinal de ressurreição, com seu carinho, seu envolvimento nas pastorais, sua devoção à Santíssima Virgem de Fátima. Quando um grupo Estamos muito felizes também porque nossa paróquia celebra a primeira Eucaristia na próxima semana das nossas crianças. Neste domingo renovarão a sua fé diante da Igreja. Uma missa festiva e profundamente ligada ao sacrifício do altar. Também estamos inovando as comunicações de nossa paróquia, temos a página eletrônica no Facebook, e agora abrimos uma conta do Instagram e no Twitter, canais de comunicação também da sociedade moderna, especialmente entre os mais jovens. Estamos felizes por sua participação, por sua presença em nosso meio, pois você faz esta Igreja ser vibrante e alegre! Que você tenha uma excelente semana e que Deus te abençoe!
