> Cooking is fun. To cook is fun soa estranho, né? Os gerúndios em inglês frequentemente são parte de uma frase e funcionam como o sujeito de uma frase, por exemplo: eating too much chocolate is unhealthy. Nós usamos gerúndios depois de preposições. > I drank coffee before leaving my house. > I enjoy traveling. Gerúndios podem ser modificados com frequência com formas possessivas como his, her, its, your, their, our, Sally's, etc. > I liked her singing. > It's difficult to wake up early. > Students come to Kaplan to study English. Infinitivos seguem muitos substantivos. Alguns substantivos comuns seguidos por infinitivos são: advice, desire, dream, goal, need, wish, permission, etc. > His wish to be President came true! > He plans to move to England. > Infinitivo: To climb Mt. Everest would be difficult.
> Gerúndio: I love singing in my church choir. > Infinitivo: I would hate to sing on American Idol. > Gerúndio: My hobby is collecting stamps. > Infinitivo: My nightmare is to take a bath with sharks. > Gerúndio: My parents caught me skipping school. > Infinitivo: My teacher wants me to do my homework. > I enjoy eating dinner with my family every evening. > I went to the grocery store to buy some bread. I enjoy listening to music. (Eu curto ouvir música). Go shopping requires time and money. (Ir às compras requer tempo e dinheiro). I continue studying day by day. (Eu continuo estudando dia a dia). I appreciate drinking hot cocoa during the winter. (Eu aprecio tomar chocolate quente durante o inverno).
3 3- após as expressões: a) Can t stand (não pode suportar / tolerar): I can t stand boring people. (Eu não tolero pessoas chatas). b) It s worth (Vale a pena): It s worth working on the weekends, I generally receive a lot of money. Deve-se utilizar o infinitivo sem o to após: a) os modais (can, could, must, should, may, might). You can work today. He will call you tomorrow morning. (Ele te ligará amanhã de manhã). c) as conjunções but e except. My boss said I could do everything on the company except arrive late to work. I invited my sister to have lunch with me. (Eu convidei minha irmã para almoçar comigo). b) após adjetivos e após as palavras: too, enough, the first, the last, the only. You are too elderly to work on this company. They heard the people talking. (Eles ouviram as pessoas conversando). They heard the people talk. (Eles ouviram as pessoas conversarem). I started loving you. (Eu comecei a amar você). I started to love you. (Eu comecei a amar você). + ING DEPOIS DE: ENJOY, FINISH, CONSIDER, MIND, IMAGINE, AVOID, MISS, GIVE UP, GO ON, INVOLVE etc. FINISH READING = terminar de ler ENJOY TRAVELING = gostar de viajar AVOID MISSING = evite perder
