These professors had been working individually for some time in the networking area, being recognized as key elements both in the academic field and in the market. Since then, the laboratory has been acting in order to guarantee to Polytechnic School undergraduate and graduate students excellence in computer networks and 1 Full Professor of the Department of Computer and Digital System Engineering PCS 2 Professor of the PCS architecture, offering high quality and up-to-date courses. One focus of the project is to provide tools and methods to support e-learning process offering the result as Open- Source Tools. The goal is not only the technology but also the methodology and theory that traditionally underlie the development of e- learning environments. The Tidia-ae is basd on Sakai infraestructure with new tools designed using Sakai interface. Tidia-ae nowadays is member of Sakai Project. 1.2 Kyatera Coordinator: Dr. Tereza Cristina M. B. In the Transport Layer, our main contribution is concerned to the project of the KyaTera Testbed network. In Application Layer, two Weblabs were developed: NetLab and MicroWave Lab. In order to foster a common

In the current project, the concept of a virtual domain was extended to the concept of a Multiple Personal Security Domain (MPSD). Additionally, in order to create secure associations, applying the adequate policies, validating trusted transactions and filtering non-secure events, it was developed the SEL (Security Enforcement Layer). The main goal of this project is to evaluate the prototype version of SEL (Security Enforcement Layer) and MPSD (Multiple Personal Security Domain) projects and identity characteristics to be improved and features to be included to turn it into a demo-prototype. 1.4 Network Overlay Systems Coordinators: Dr. Wilson V. Márcio Silva (PhD Student, FDTE) Fernando Frota Redígolo (PhD Student, FDTE) Diego Gallo (Master Student, FDTE) Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (A- TCA) aims to take the widely deployed network paradigm and within a site, offers a layered framework to the application nodes of a telecom network, using standard server blades and open standard network interfaces and protocols. This makes the applications nodes act as network elements within a framework. This enables independent application development and independent development of the framework and infrastructure support applications. It also supports a large degree of sourcing. The main purpose of this project is to study and evaluate A-TCA systems, focusing on: Basic threat and risk analysis of the A-TCA concept. Credential/authentication management propose a PKI (or suitable alternative) that can be used to authenticate users (e.g. for O&M), blades and signed software/code. Suitable protocols for user authentication (with single sign-on) and role-based authorization.

This includes VoD (Video on Demand), rich media live transmission, multicast, compressed and uncompressed transmission and streaming for different classes of devices (e.g., desktop, laptops and handhelds). In addition, three other objectives should be accomplished: perform tests and their analysis about End-to-End QoS for IPTV traffic over local, metropolitan and wide are networks involving Internet 2 infrastructure; to assess the DRM (Digital Right Management) State of Art and proposes for some security challenges in this context such as key management and user privacy in unicast and multicast transmissions. The objective of this project is to research and develop an infrastructure for Groupware applications supporting collaborative activities in the system domain, over the infrastructure of the GIGA_RNP network. This project will be validated using the test activities of the Integration and Test Laboratory of INPE that is LARC partner in this project. The environment to be developed allows the interaction using audio and highresolution video among people located at different places connected to GIGA network. A project requirement is QoS control by end-to-end applications with high volume of data transmission as well as high-resolution digital audio, image and video. The prototype implementation will be made, as prove of concept, of the digital video distribution system. This work will be split in three main activities: specification of a multimedia services management platform, development of a video distribution management system and tests of the system implemented in RNP real network integrating this service to other already existing services. Based in this platform, an USP - IPTV system was released in 2007 to store, manage and distribute multimedia material developed at USP and to provide real time video channels. 2.
